Monitoring of the testing for hepatitis C has been implemented in low-threshold services in Germany, Romania, Portugal and Finland.

In the four European countries Finland, Germany, Romania and Portugal a broaderinvestigation on drug use and infections with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) was conducted.
One part of the research consisted in the longitudinal screening of visitors of low-threshold drug services for previous HCV antibody testing and their current HCV testing need. A second part consisted in a survey aimed at exploring the drug users’ experiences with testing and treatment. |

Publication of the BMC Infectious Desease The publication was produced in the framework of the 'Hepatitis C Initiative' project by CHIP, The Centre for Health and Infectious Disease Research, University of Copenhagen. The publication contains five research articles and a discussion article that collectively demonstrate the potential for smart research to help transform the political and public health response to hepatitis C in Europe and presents no less than ten commentaries about crucial issues in this realm with a broad diversity of experiences represented in the contributions. |
